President Trump’s trip to France for the country’s Bastille Day parade in July left a big impression. So big, in fact, that he wants to replicate the experience back home.

As Trump met Monday with French President Emmanuel Macron, the commander in chief gushed about seeing France’s military might on display in the streets of Paris during his visit. And he told reporters he is looking into the possibility of having a parade down the streets of Washington on Independence Day to show the United States’ “military strength.”

“I was your guest at Bastille Day, and it was one of the greatest parades I’ve ever seen,” Trump told Macron, who sat next to him. “It was two hours on the button, and it was military might and, I think, a tremendous thing for France and the spirit of France.”

To a large extent because of what I witnessed, we may do something like that on July Fourth in Washington down Pennsylvania Avenue,”  Trump said.

The comments prompted laughter from Macron and other officials sitting around them. The leaders were meeting in New York ahead of the United Nations General Assembly. But it wasn’t the first time Trump has talked about wanting a military parade in the streets of Washington.

Before the inauguration, Trump officials inquired with the Pentagon about having armored vehicles participate in his inauguration parade, according to documents obtained by HuffPost. And he told The Washington Post in January that he hoped that during his tenure, U.S. military might would be on display.

Being a great president has to do with a lot of things, but one of them is being a great cheerleader for the country,” Trump said in the January interview. “And we’re going to show the people as we build up our military, we’re going to display our military.”

“That military may come marching down Pennsylvania Avenue. That military may be flying over New York City and Washington, D.C., for parades. I mean, we’re going to be showing our military,” he added.

Although Trump is deeply unpopular in France, he was invited for the 100th Bastille Day ceremony in Paris by Macron in an effort to strengthen the relationship between the two countries and their new leaders. The lengthy parade seemed to thrill the president, who has long held a fascination with military force.

On Monday, seated next to Macron, he boasted about the levels of U.S. military spending so far in his term. And he said his goal would be to “try to top” what France did.

“I think we’re looking forward to doing that,” Trump said. “I’m speaking with General Kelly and with all of the people involved, and we’ll see if we can do it this year,” he added, referring to Chief of Staff John F. Kelly.

The Pentagon did not immediately respond to requests for comment about plans to hold such a parade.

Women In Scriptures

The last few days I’ve been listening to some very interesting audios on the Jewish understanding of Moshiach, and yet again, I come away with the thought, that if Moshiach is from the Tribe of Joseph and the Tribe of Judah, (Both would be from two different Tribes), and knowing that the Son of Joseph (Ephraim lineage) and the Son of Judah (David’s lineage), one has to die and one reigns in the Messianic era. We cannot jump on the bandwagon of Jesus being the son of Joseph and will return from the son of David. This is not possible.  The 2 Tribes are two different and they cannot be from the same. There are Jewish views that these 2 men are on scene at the same time. Son of Joseph gets killed and Son of David is the one who is alive… This brings up a ton of questions in my head!  COULD this be what the 2 Witnesses are? I do not have an answer on that, but if I ever find it I will surely post it.

Witnesses in Judaism according to the Tanak is two people who see something and can report it. We use this for the sighting of the new moon, and its used in courts of law as a witness to a crime or a witness to innocents.  However when i look up the same word “witness” in the NT, strangely it goes to being something totally different.  The NT shows the “Witness” as You are witness to this. Well, that is not a correct view of Judaism. If “You” are the witness, where is the other witness? We need two!  No one witnessed anything with Jesus’s resurrection and you can’t use angels sitting on a rock as the witness.  Each angle has only one job, they are not like us. We have tons of jobs, many things to be busy with. They function under one item, so the idea that 2 are witnesses cannot work on this.

In the book of Exodus, millions of people “Witnessed” G-d in the “Thunder and Lightning”.

This is the main basis of Judaism.

There is a huge difference with Judaism and other religions.

They have one person saying “God told me xyz”…

But there was no second witness to this.

But going back to my original statement, sorry for the “rabbit trails”!  The Son’s of Joseph and the Sons of Judah who are Moshaich would have to be married, they would have had wives.  I found a wonderful source for reading about the Women of the bible, more specifically I was reading on Tamara and how she had to get Judah to preform the Levitical right so that she could conceive and have a son.  I find it interesting that we all keep track of the guys, but without the women, they cannot full fill what scriptures speaks of.

The Ten Utterances

Today’s Parsha for those who read the Torah Schedule each year….

Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: You shall be holy… (Leviticus 19:2)

Rabbi Chiyya taught: This section was spoken in the presence of a gathering of the whole community, because most of the essential principles of the Torah are appended to it.

Rabbi Levi said: Because the Ten Commandments are included therein:

1) “I am the L-rd your G-d,” and here it is written, “I am the L-rd your G-d” (19:3, et al).

2) “You shall have no other gods before me,” and here it is written, “Nor make to yourselves molten gods” (19:4).

3) “You shall not take the name of the L-rd your G-d in vain,” and here it is written, “And you shall not swear by My name falsely” (19:12).

4) “Remember the Sabbath day”, and here it is written, “And keep My sabbaths” (19:3).

5) “Honor your father and your mother,” and here it is written, “Every man shall fear his mother and his father” (19:3).

6) “You shall not murder,” and here it is written, “You shall not stand by the blood of your fellow” (19:16).

7) “You shall not commit adultery,” and here it is written, “Both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death” (19:10).

8) “You shall not steal,” and here it is written, “You shall not steal, [neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another]” (19:11).

9) “You shall not bear false witness,” and here it is written, “You shall not go about as a talebearer” (19:16).

10) “You shalt not covet… any thing that is your fellow’s,” and here it is written, “Love your fellow as yourself” (19:18).

(Midrash Rabbah)

1) The reason the Hebrew calls it the “10 Utterances” and not commandments, is that the first one, is not “Commanding you”… it is uttering to you, it is conveying to you ‘I am the Lord your God”.. “Who took you out of Egypt”… here is where the confusion is, when we have religious leaders calling it “Commandments”.

2) Adam was given 1 item – take care of the universe, all that is in it, animals etc.  Some will call this the “Adamic Covenant”

3) Noah was proof of taking care of the animals. Some will call this the “Noahide Laws”

4) Moses was given the “Utterances”. – The Laws that G-d gave to Moses.

5) The first few “Utterances” show who is speaking and how you should view the speaker

6) The next few “Utterances” tell you how to react with the speaker and that the speaker is telling you what is required from humans to the wants of the speaker.

7) The 5th “Utterance” is aligning how the speaker and your parents are in a way, to be viewed with respect. In Judaism, even if a parent is horrible, miss-treats the child, the child and into their adulthood should respect this person.  We may have to say “WHY”?  The response would be “Because they helped create you, if it was not for this person, you would not be here today”.   Another joining concept is that not only did a man and women come together to make a new being, so did G-d also enter this and help create you. (As G-d also created Adam and Eve).  This is a deep concept and I’m not going any further on this.

8) The final “Utterances” is how we as humans should be acting to one an another.

9) Not listed here is how Judaism has indicated that within these 10 Utterances are the understanding of the 613 commandments that are part of our lifestyle. Some are negative commandments and some are positive commandments. Ironically, the negative are not what is bad, but what should be done to make it a Positive Commandment.  http://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/756399/jewish/The-613-Commandments.htm

Positive Mitzvah 153: The New Moon – Calculating the Months and Years

Exodus 12:2 “This month shall be to you the beginning of months”

Have you noticed how the moon changes its shape throughout the month?

At times, it shines brightly like a cream-colored ball.

Other times, we can compare it to a slice of honeydew. On some nights,
it looks like a split banana! Sometimes, you can’t see it at all!

While in bed watching the moon, take a peek through your window, shut
your eyes for a moment and imagine a scene taking place many years ago
in Eretz Yisrael.

In the Great Beit-Din, the chief Rabbi sits in his honored place,
greeting the Jew who just arrived in the court.

“I saw the moon last night, Rabbi, and I believe it is the beginning
of a new month,” reports the Jew.

The Rabbi motions to a chart with many different moon shapes hanging
on the wall. “Is this the shape you saw?” asks the Rabbi, pointing to
a particular shape.

The man who witnessed the moon would be questioned until the judges
were satisfied. When the judges heard proper testimony from at least
two witnesses, they would declare that a new month had arrived.

Determining the new month is very important to the Jewish calendar.

HaShem commands us to celebrate specific holidays in their set seasons
and on particular dates. In order to fulfill these commandments, we
must know when a new month begins and count the days accordingly.

This way, we will be assured of celebrating the holiday on the correct
date.

The Great Beit-Din (Sanhedrin) in Eretz Yisrael is commanded to
determine and calculate the counting of the months.

The Rabbis knew when the moon would first begin to shine again. They
informed the people to be alert and immediately report their findings.

Proper eye-witness testimony would serve as proof of the new month’s
arrival. Afterwards, news of the new moon would be spread promptly
enabling all Jews to count the days of the month in a unified manner.

In this way, the Jewish calendar was set and followed.

In addition, HaShem commanded that the holidays of Pesach and Sukkot
be celebrated in the spring and fall.

The Jewish calendar is a “Lunar Calendar” which means that it follows
the phases of the moon. However, the seasons change according to the
sun’s yearly cycle.

There is an eleven and a quarter day difference between the cycle of
the sun and the twelve lunar months.

Because of this, we might reach the proper Hebrew date for Passover,
but the spring season will not yet have arrived!

There is a way to overcome this problem.

If such a situation arises, the Rabbis would foresee it and the Beit-
Din would declare a leap-year.

The last month of the Hebrew calendar – Adar, would be doubled,
(First-Adar and Second-Adar) and Pesach would then arrive in the
spring time!

The Torah commands the Beit-Din to calculate the months and declare
the necessary leap years. The manner in which it was done, as
described above, applies only to the time of the Great Beit-Din in
Eretz Yisrael.

Today, we follow the Jewish calendar which was established by Rabbi
Hillel HaNasi, a descendant of Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi.

He calculated the precise arrivals of the new moon and the years which
would be considered leap years.

We rely on this calendar until the arrival of Mashiach, when we will
return to the original method of the eye-witness report.
